After breakfast we begin our exploration of Prague with a panoramic driving tour followed by a walk through the old town. A local guide will join the group and tell us about the history of Prague and the architecture, much of which was achieved during its 14th-century glory days under Charles IV.

The tour will conclude with lunch at a cafe in the old town. Here you will find well-preserved historic buildings, large sidewalk cafes, churches and the Old Town Hall with its 600-year old Astronomical Clock and its hourly procession of apostles and allegorical figures.

The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore. Prague has many museums and galleries to visit, providing a rich artistic heritage of Prague and the Czech lands. The numerous expositions of the National Gallery, Municipal Gallery, National Museum, and other institutions contain extensive collections of art of all styles and eras.  You might want to shop for Czech products including crystal, hand painted eggs, handicrafts, folk art, puppets, and wooden toys. We will drive by and stop for pictures of Hluboka castle, once an important fortification in central Europe. ..After a short walking tour of the town, enjoy the cobbled streets, cafes and winding alleys until we depart and return to Prague.  There will be time to relax and freshen up before we depart again for our dinner cruise. Enjoy a casual evening with music, a dinner buffet and a chance to see many of Prague's famous sights that line the river. It's beautiful at night! Overnight: Eurostars Thalia Hotel. (B,D)

We will have a morning departure from Prague by train and arrive in Vienna late afternoon.  After transferring to the hotel, the remainder of the afternoon and evening is yours to enjoy. We are located in the main shopping area on Vienna, so enjoy looking around the shops this evening. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in the area.  Overnight: NH Atterseehaus - 4*, Vienna.  (B)

Sunday, 20 June: Spanish Riding School, Vienna City Tour
Our day begins with a performance by the world famous Spanish Riding School.  This is a unique opportunity to see classical dressage at the highest level and in its purest form. The precise and graceful maneuvers of the white Lipizzaner stallions and their elegant riders date back to Ancient Greece, and the tradition and skills of the world’s oldest riding school promise to make for a fun and interesting morning.

After lunch together, we are joined by a local guide who will accompany us as we enjoy a sightseeing tour of Vienna. Vienna is steeped in history and boasts several magnificent buildings.  Hofburg Palace is perhaps the greatest monument to the Hapsburgs and was the seat of one of the largest empires in Europe.  It now houses various museums, chapels, the treasury, national theater, and the Spanish Riding School.  St. Stephan's Cathedral, built in 1147, defines the city center and has been the heart of Vienna for centuries. While time may not allow us to go inside the buildings this afternoon, you may return at your leisure tomorrow to the locations that have captured your interest. Overnight: NH Atterseehaus. (B,L)

Monday, 21 June: Day at Leisure in Vienna; Dinner and a Concert

Today is completely at leisure. After our city tour the previous day you are ready to go exploring with your fellow travelers.  There are numerous churches, theaters and museums to explore and learn about the art, music and culture of this wonderful city.  The pulse of the city can be found along Ringstrasse. Walk around the area and take a break at a sidewalk cafe and have one of the city’s superb pastries.  Innere Stadt (the old city) is where the city’s main attractions are located, and since it is a pedestrian zone, it is also a great place to stroll. Between St. Stephan’s and the State Opera House is Karntnerstrasse, Vienna’s main shopping street.

Tonight would be a good night to dress up a bit! We are going to the Schonbrunn Palace for dinner and a concert. Schönbrunn Palace is one of the most important cultural monuments in Austria and the castle was built to rival Frances' Versailles in Baroque beauty and importance. Enjoy dinner followed by a performance by the Schonbrunn Palace Orchestra, featuring the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Strauss. Overnight: NH Atterseehaus.  (B,D)

Tuesday, 22 June: Vienna to Budapest via Hydrofoil; Dinner

Today we travel by hydrofoil between Vienna and Budapest along the Danube River.  The boat departs at 9:00am and takes us past Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.  The "Danube Bend" is famous for its historic towns and is considered the loveliest stretch of the trip.  Along the way we sail past Esztergom, the nation's most sacred city, and Szentendre, an artist colony, before reaching Budapest around 2:30pm. After transferring to the hotel and checking in we will have some time to relax before dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight: Mamaison Andrassy Hotel - 4*+, Budapest. (B,D)

Wednesday, 23 June: Budapest city tour; Free Time

Today we are joined by a local guide to see the city often referred to as the "Paris of the East."  Budapest is composed of three cities: Buda and Obuda on the west side of the river - looking over the much larger Pest on the opposite side.  The most famous landmark of Budapest is the Parliament building but there is also the Fisherman’s Bastion, St. Stephen Basilica, Budapest Central Synagogue, the 13th century Matthias Church and the Hungarian State Opera House.

At the conclusion of the tour, the remainder of the day is free. There are many excellent museums to choose from including the Hungarian National Gallery and Hungarian National Museum.  Experience a thermal spa--Budapest is home to some of the world's finest mineral baths.  Budapest's finest green spot is Margaret Island located in the middle of the River Danube.  And if you want to shop, then stroll along Vaci Utca in Pest,  Budapest's main shopping area lined with boutiques and traditional cafes. Overnight: Mamaison Andrassy Hotel. (B)

Thursday, 24 June: Royal Palace of Godollo, Farewell Dinner

We leave the city today and travel to the Royal Palace of Godollo to visit the former summer residence of the emperor Francis Joseph and Queen Elisabeth. It is one of the largest baroque palaces in Hungary.  The palace was the favorite residence of the Queen, affectionately called "Sissi" by the Hungarians. The visit to Godollo includes the entrance, after which you are free to explore the Palace at your leisure. Enjoy the Royal suites with original furnishings, the stateroom, exhibitions, and a Baroque theatre. You can even take a relaxing walk in the English style Elisabeth Park around the palace. We return to the hotel this afternoon where we will have time to freshen up before having our farewell dinner at the hotel. Overnight: Mamaison Andrassy Hotel. (B,D)
