Welcome to beautiful British Columbia. We begin with a hop-on hop-off tour of Vancouver, BC's largest city and the major port for all of western Canada. Renowned for its scenic beauty and endless opportunities for outdoor activities, Vancouver is surrounded almost completely by water and features snow-capped mountains rising dramatically in the background. Stanley Park, an evergreen oasis of 1,000 acres, is recognized as one of the greatest parks of the world. The hop-on hop-off bus gives everyone the freedom to linger at those places that interest you the most. You might also consider a stop for dim-sum in one of the many restaurants in Chinatown, visit Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden, an exquisite reproduction of a Ming Dynasty landscape or head to Capilano suspension bridge for a walk on the wild side.
Sunday, 6 Aug 2017: Travel the Coastal Road to Whistler (B,D)
Located in the spectacular Coast Mountains of British Columbia just two hours north of Vancouver, Whistler is Canada’s favorite year-round destination. This picturesque alpine resort has the look and feel of a European mountain village with cozy cafes, boutiques and gourmet restaurants. Our drive will take us through spectacular scenery, from vistas of downtown Vancouver to stunning mountain views to the impressive cascade of Shannon Falls and the spectacular dome peak of Mount Garibaldi. Upon arrival in Whistler, the day is free to enjoy in this charming village as you wish until we get back together for dinner. Overnight Whistler - 2 nights
Monday, 7 Aug 2017: Whistler Gondola Ride; Free Afternoon (B)
Board the Whistler gondola for an unparalleled perspective of British Columbia’s rooftop. This gondola is a great feat of engineering. It's the longest unsupported span in the world and highest lift of its kind. The stunning ascent whisks us through towering cedar and fir forests until we reach the top and revel in 360-degree mountain views. But the experience is far from over. Scenic walking trails, mountaintop restaurants, wildlife viewing and indoor interpretive displays are ready for discovery. This afternoon and evening are yours to spend as you wish.
Tuesday, 8 Aug 2017: Ferry to Vancouver Island; Butchart Gardens; Victoria (B)
No tour to British Columbia is complete without a visit to Victoria, the capital of the province. And the best way to get there is by ferry. Upon arrival to Vancouver Island we'll visit world-famous Butchart Gardens. These gardens began from one woman's desire to beautify the land left scarred by an open pit limestone quarry. They have been owned, tended and expanded since 1904 by the same family and now encompass more than 55 acres of beauty. Then it's on to Victoria. Established in 1843 as a fort for the Hudson's Bay Company, Victoria's British ancestry is apparent. We'll check into our hotel and have the remainder of the evening free. Overnight Victoria - 2 nights
Wednesday, 9 Aug 2017: Explore Victoria; High Tea at Empress Hotel (B,Tea) (B,O)
Today is yours to explore Victoria. We will use the hop-on hop-off bus to learn about the city and to get off at stops of interest. Your Tour Leader will have suggestions for additional activities. The strong British ties make for some wonderful shopping. You will find more than enough things to do and explore to fill your day and you'll wonder where the time went! Later this afternoon we will re-connect and have tea together at The Empress Hotel overlooking the harbor.
Thursday, 10 Aug 2017: Victoria; Afternoon Ferry to Vancouver; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
This morning is at leisure to relax or to maybe walk to the waterfront and around the city more before catching the ferry back to Vancouver in the early afternoon. For convenience sake we will stay near the airport. Tonight we will dine together to say farewell and enjoy a final meal with new friends. Overnight Vancouver Airport - 1 night
Friday, 11 Aug 2017: Return home from Vancouver (B)
Sadly, our time together has come to an end. Based on the departure time you provide WTT, your Tour Leader will organize travelers into small groups so you can ride-share to the airport if you wish.
