B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner
Thursday, 1 Jun 2017: Arrive Phoenix, AZ; Travel to Kingman; Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule arrival no later than 1:00pm. Once everyone has arrived, we will travel to Kingman, AZ, the heart of Historic Route 66 and a great launching point for this tour. Upon arrival, we will check into the hotel with time to relax before meeting for dinner. Overnight Kingman - 1 night
Friday, 2 Jun 2017: Descend to the Bottom of Grand Canyon; Hike to Basecamp (B,L,D)
This morning, we meet our guides and caravan to the trailhead, Hualapai Hilltop, perched on the edge of the Grand Canyon at about 5,100 feet in elevation. We'll board helicopters for a quick, but scenic air taxi ride into the Village of Supai, the most remote village in the US, where even the mail still arrives by packhorse. Here at 3,200 feet, we embark on a 2-mile hike to our basecamp. The cottonwood-lined paths lead us through the village and into the canyon's back country. A little further down the trail, we pass 50-foot New Navajo Falls, 35-foot Rock Falls and 100-foot Havasu Falls. There will be time to explore the area while our guides arrange the camp kitchen and prepare a delicious meal. With direction and assistance, we'll set up our tents and sleep under the stars. Overnight Camping - 3 nights
Saturday, 3 Jun 2017: Hike to Beaver Falls (B,L,D)
Awaken to the smell of fresh-brewed coffee and the sound of water falling. Our base camp is nestled along a stream under towering cottonwood trees. After a hearty breakfast, we embark on one of the most exciting hikes in North America, crossing streams and wading through lush meadows of wild grapevine on our way to Beaver Falls, the last waterfall in the chain of four major waterfalls in Havasu Canyon. On this 5-9 mile hike, our guides provide unique insight into the Havasupai area. Expect to get wet as this little-traveled trail crosses the creek many times on its way to Beaver Falls. The truly adventurous may choose to enter the "Green Room," an underwater grotto, or plunge beneath the roaring falls! At day's end, you will be awed by your accomplishments.
Sunday, 4 Jun 2017: Waterfall Hikes & Time for Relaxation (B,L,D)
After another hearty breakfast and peaceful morning in camp, we again grab our day packs for a morning of exploration. A preview hike takes us back up the main trail to Rock Falls and New Navajo Falls, two of the newest sights in Havasupai, created only a handful of years ago by a massive flood. Take photos, swim beneath these amazing (and safe!) waterfalls and enjoy the warmth of the summer sun. After lunch back at camp, the afternoon is free to relax and enjoy the creek area or continue exploring the canyon's various falls and oases. We'll pack up camp tonight and prepare for our hike out tomorrow morning.
Monday, 5 Jun 2017: Hike & Helicopter out of the Canyon; Travel to Sedona (B,L)
The majesty and magic of the canyon will make us all wish we could stay a bit longer, but after breakfast, it is time to make our way back to civilization. After packing up the horses, we hike the two miles back to the village and then catch the helicopter for another breathtaking flight. We'll reach the rim sometime between noon and 3pm. We complete this day by driving through Oak Creek Canyon, one of the most scenic drives in America, on our way to Sedona. Overnight Sedona - 2 nights
Tuesday, 6 Jun 2017: Free Day in Sedona; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
Enjoy a free day in Sedona. The town is famous for the natural red-rock formations, energy vortexes, and wonderful artisanal crafts that can be found in numerous galleries around town. You can be active and hike, leisurely peruse the many galleries, lift off on a balloon ride or just bask in the beauty. Your WTT Tour Leader will have many ideas for spending a great day in Sedona. This evening we gather for one last dinner to reminisce about the great week we've just shared.
Wednesday, 7 Jun 2017: Return Home from Phoenix (B)
Sadly, our time together has come to an end. We will depart Sedona with enough time to be back in Phoenix to catch flights departing at 12:00pm or later.
