Tuesday, 16 May 2017: Santa Fe Walking Tour; O’Keeffe Museum; Afternoon Free Time (B,L)
Santa Fe is a fabulous walking city. It's small enough to navigate easily on foot, with winding streets filled with charming adobe shops, homes and historic buildings as well as contemporary galleries, boutiques and restaurants. We begin our day with a walking tour followed by a visit to the O'Keeffe Museum. One of the most significant artists of the 20th century, Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986) was devoted to creating imagery that expressed what she called “the wideness and wonder of the world as I live in it.” After lunch together the remainder of the day is yours to further explore.
Wednesday, 17 May 2017: Day Trip to Bandelier National Monument, Taos & Rio Grande Gorge (B)
Bandelier National Monument is today's first destination. At Bandelier, evidence of the Ancestral Pueblo people can be found in the dwellings, artifacts, and continuing culture of the modern pueblos. We will take advantage of some of the area's walking trails. A walk on the Main Loop Trail leads through excavated archeological sites on the floor of Frijoles Canyon. At the conclusion of our visit to Bandelier we will continue north to Taos, known for its artist colony and beautiful desert scenery, to enjoy free time to explore this charming community. To take in the diversity of the southwestern landscape, we travel part of the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway through some of the most beautiful alpine country of northern New Mexico, stopping briefly at the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge for stellar views. We return to Santa Fe this evening.
Thursday, 18 May 2017: Free Day to Explore Santa Fe; Group Dinner (B,D)
Today is all about Santa Fe. Consider these optional activities: an early morning balloon ride, visiting the world famous outdoor opera stage, taking a wine tour, doing a mild rafting trip on the Rio Grande River, seeing the amazing art on Canyon Row. Your WTT Tour Leader will have plenty of suggestions as to how to spend the day.
Friday, 19 May 2017: Return to Albuquerque; Old Towne Albuquerque; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
Our trip back to Albuquerque takes us along the Turquoise Trail. The scenic and historic area encompasses 15,000 square miles in the heart of central New Mexico, linking Albuquerque and Santa Fe. We return to Albuquerque to enjoy time exploring Old Towne before we gather this evening for our Farewell Dinner. Tonight we stay near the Albuquerque airport for convenience sake. Overnight Albuquerque - 1 night
Saturday, 20 May 2017: Return Home from Albuquerque (B)
Sadly, our time together has come to an end. Based on the departure time you provide WTT, your Tour Leader will organize travelers into small groups so you can ride-share to the airport if you wish.
